Clubs and Societies

  

Clubs and societies play a vital role in a student’s life in school. The students develop as all round individual as they nurture their different talents, are able to transit into better young adults, develop leadership skills and healthy self-images. The students also expand their social horizons which help them develop their interpersonal skills thereby raising their self-esteem. The student-teacher relationship is strengthened with teachers serving as models and source of social support.

In state house girls, there is a wide range of co-curricular activities from which students can choose to be members of. Most of this clubs address issues such as in our society .there are various clubs which are categorized into: academics clubs like mathematics club and science club social clubs like drama club, music club, junior achievers, photography club Japanese club among others. There are also movements like St. Johns, the girl guides and the girl scouts, the religious communities like the Christian union, the YCS, and the Muslims.

Some of the outstanding clubs and societies in the school include drama club which has had sterling performance over the years. This year in the film category it was nominated in the Kalasha awards while a student Phyllis Kamunya was nominated for the best actress category we wish the club well in this endeavor. All these were done under the leadership of Ms. Margret Chege and assisted by Mrs. Sylvia Kaparo, with their director Dr. Otieno.

The music club has also done the school proud. Last year the school choir landed an invitation to Turkmenistan for a number of concerts.

Their rendition of the song African woman was an instant hit. This year (2014) the group has also landed another invitation to Canada for competitions and concerts courtesy of Powell river academy of music in Quebec-Canada.the entourage leavesthe end of June for one week tour under the patronage of Mr. L wekesa and the choir director Mr. Isaac Khavehere.

Other clubs that have brought honor to the school include the St. Johns which have participated in many competitions and won several trophies and certificates.

The math’s club which has been taking part in several contests and bringing home trophies and certificates, among other clubs.
